Isadora Fox, PHD, PMHNP
Medication Management, Psychotherapy, Hoarding Coaching
Isadora Fox DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC received her RN, psychiatric nurse practitioner training, and doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin. During graduate school, she was a Health Humanities Scholar in Narrative Medicine at Dell Medical School. She is currently studying Narrative Medicine at Columbia University. She was also inducted in the Sigma Theta Tau honor society, from which she received a research grant. Additionally, she was voted class clown of her doctoral cohort, for which she received a jar of candy. Though she is a Longhorn three times over, she believes that football rivalries may negatively affect mental health and welcomes all Division One students and graduates.
Dr. Fox has over a decade of clinical experience. She received training in cognitive behavioral therapy for complicated disorganization and hoarding from Harvard Medical School’s psychiatry academy and is a professional organizer. In addition to her clinical practice, she trains nursing students, conducts research, and writes intolerably boring book chapters and articles for various medical publications.
Prior to pursuing psychiatry, Dr. Fox received a bachelor’s in English Literature and Art History from Smith College and was a women’s magazine writer and editor in New York City. She considers her current career an opportunity to undo psychic damage perpetrated by mass media. However, she believes these experiences paved the way to her narrative practice philosophy and approach: A person’s story may provide far more insight into their needs, desires, and emotions than any mood survey. She is honored that patients entrust her with their care, especially when they are smarter and more interesting than she is.
