He received his bachelor’s of science in nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and his master’s degree at University of Texas at Austin.
In addition, he completed a two-year program in adult psychodynamic therapy at the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies in Houston, a therapy approach that encourages patients to understand the interplay of who they are, their personal history, and how it impacts their lives.
Justin started his career in community mental health, where he cared for the severely mentally ill of all ages. Since 2017, he has expanded his skills to provide a blend of psychotherapy and medication management. Prior to becoming an advanced practice nurse, he served in psychiatric, medical-surgical, and occupational health nursing roles.
Justin strives to listen closely and provide individualized care. He is a leader in the nurse practitioner community. He was the founding president of Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses of Texas and currently serves on the Texas Nurse Practitioners Board of Directors
Justin uses his leadership platform to improve practice across the psychiatric spectrum by creating a mentorship program for new practitioners and a case conference series for experienced practitioners. In recognition of his efforts, Justin was honored with the prestigious 2020 Texas Nurse Practitioner Visionary Award.
He hopes that his work as a mental health provider helps make the world a kinder place.
